World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance. Components Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending. Glyphs Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace. The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph. Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. When the player upgrade the equipment they have the original item is replaced by a new item. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set of bonuses. This can be a disadvantage because it can make the item more expensive if you do not require it. If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades . This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a different set of extra bonuses. This can be beneficial however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources. Some upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives an increase in power if the player continuously enters or leaves the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This item is highly valuable in PvP.
